Saint-Saturnin-Lès-Apt is located within the "Parc Naturel du Luberon" in the beautiful Vaucluse department, in the south of France. The closest larger airport is Marseille (about an hour and a half drive), and the closest train station is Avignon (about a 45-minute drive).
If you are a cyclist,The Veloroute du Luberon (which spans 236 km) is within easy reach of the village. If you enjoy hiking, you will find hundreds of walking trails through the Luberon region for all levels. Saint-Saturnin is located within a short drive of six of the "Most Beautiful Villages of France" (Gordes, Roussillon, Menerbes, Lourmarin, Venasque and Ansouis), as well as many other attractions such as the amazing Saturday morning market in Apt, about 10 minutes away from St Saturnin. The historic Papal town of Avignon is within a 45-minute drive, and the beautiful coastal town of Cassis, with its magnificent "calanques" (sheltered inlets) and cliffs, is about an hour and a half away by car. If you are a wine lover, you will find many quality vineyards throughout the region. The village's history (which goes back to the 10th century) is also quite impressive, with its medieval castle ruins and fortifications, its windmills, and its many low vaulted passages throughout the village and medieval houses. St Sat (as the locals call it) is also known for its many cherry trees orchards that blossom beautifully in April. |
The weekly market is on Tuesdays until about 1pm. Many amenities can also be found within the village, such as 2 bakery/pastry shops (one of which is about 30 yards from the house), 2 bars/cafes, a wine/tapas bar, 5 restaurants, 2 sandwich shops, a butcher, 2 hairdressers, a pharmacy, post office, a bank and ATM machines, and a great public pool, offering fantastic views of the valley, that is open during the months of July and August (located about 150 meters from the house).
